In Tape Op #143, Dawn Landes interviewed Linda Perry, one of the most successful producers and songwriters of the last 30 years. In this documentary, Don Hardy captures Linda in action, writing and recording with Dolly Parton, Kate Hudson, and Christina Aguilera. She recounts her story of producing the hit "What's Up?" for her band, 4 Non Blondes (also in her Tape Op interview), and discusses her troubled youth and upbringing. The film gets even more personal, with Linda frequently wondering who she really is, dealing with her mother's passing, and getting through some very real cancer. Watching the film, I just wanted to take her on a vacation to relax, and tell her, "You have accomplished a lot. You are an inspiration to so many," and leave her sitting by the beach. This film is a candid portrait of an important person in our world of music. Thanks for doing this, Linda.
