According to the disc technical notes, this music was "captured by veteran field engineer Gene Holder [ex dB's], in a studio/bohemian flophouse called the Jolly Roger". Sound is on the lo-fi side of things - condenser mic ambient room aesthetic - which works well for their lo-budget film score approach to improvisation. This is all laid back, candles-and-incense type jams, which occasionally slip into the dreaded new age synth flute realm. Considering Steve Shelly, of Sonic Youth, sits behind the traps in this group, I'd have to say it's pretty adventurous. (Smells Like Records, PO Box 6179, Hoboken, NJ, 07030)
