Drums, tuba and... oh yeah, guitar mix together to create a very interesting and enjoyable instrumental sound. Overdubs of other horns, percussion and electronics fill out the arrangements. Produced and mixed by Ani Difranco and Goat Boy (Andrew Gilchrest, see Tape Op #12) this release is Drums and Tuba's sixth release. The music is atmospheric and lively but the songs are simple and direct. Comparison section: Beefheart (minus the singing), Oranj Symphonette (minus the swankiness). I wish more people would create what is ostensibly "rock" music with non-rock instruments like this and I bet these guys are fun live. (Righteous Babe Recs, 1-800-on-her-own)
