I dropped by Avast! Recording Co. in Seattle looking for Stuart Hallerman (who wasn't there) but Troy Tietjen was hanging out in the office. He mentioned that Steve Fisk was mixing a record, so I popped in to see what was up. It turns out he and Troy were mixing this record. It sounded really good. Fisk is almost a living legend up this way, and he helped pull the most out of this frenetic band. Member, and engineer, Matt Bayles mixed some of the tunes too, and the record was tracked at Stone Gossard's Studio Litho (an excellent place to work) with Dave Fisher assisting. Mastered by Ed Brooks at RFI, one of Seattle's best mastering house. (www.suicidesqueeze.net)

I Am Trying To Break Your Heart
by John Baccigaluppi
OK, so this isn't a CD, but rather a documentary film about making a CD, this year's excellent Yankee Hotel Foxtrot by Chicago's Wilco. About a third of the film is studio scenes in the band's loft...
