Last issue, #88, Liam Watson opined, "using older equipment or simpler recording techniques doesn't necessarily mean you intend things to sound 'lo-fi.'" In Tape Op #67 we interviewed Lewis Durham, the young guitarist of this British-based family band. The album was recorded to tape, the physical room in the songs is cool, and the upright bass is moving some air. The recording includes instrumentals, pop songs, trumpets, boogie-woogie piano, ska and more. This shit is fun to listen to and I recommend you do so. Recorded by Lewis and his father, Graeme Durham (of The Exchange Mastering), who also plays acoustic guitar in the band. Did I mention that their mom, Ingrid Weiss, drummed for the The Raincoats and plays upright bass here? A true family experience!
